Technical Foul: contest-winner gets books instead of buck$

by

I like books as much as the next person —actually, industry statistics indicate that I like books quite a bit more than the next person (Erin Blakemore at Smithsonian  says one in four American adults didn’t read a single book last year) — but I’d still be pretty pissed if I were Jackson Logsdon, the University of Louisville student who, the Associated Press reports, “made a layup, free throw, 3-point shot and a half court shot” in a contest for a $38,000 prize.

Alas, Logsdon was disqualified because the contest apparently prohibited participants who had played high school basketball within the past six years. Rather than that cold hard cash, Logsdon is instead getting two years’ of books and meal plans for the next two years.

He shoots, he… scores?
