SJP could also use a year of rest and relaxation
by Taylor Sperry
“Bookish-chic” is a thing! And what better poster girl (actually, we can think of a lot of excellent poster girls for such a statement) than Sarah Jessica Parker, who runs her own imprint, SJP, at Hogarth (a division of Penguin Random House’s Crown Publishing Group) and is of course best known for her role as the extremely fashionable journalist Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City.
“I have always loved to read for the same reason I love to act,” Parker says, “which is that other peoples’ stories are more interesting to me than my own.”
At the Tribeca Film Festival last week, “Parker gave her look a more bookish-chic spin by accessorizing with a back-to-school backpack and a novel,” Christian Allaire reports for Vogue. The novel was a galley of Ottessa Moshfegh’s My Year of Rest and Relaxation, which Penguin Press will publish in July.
The marketing team at PP must be pretty pumped, indeed. After all, everyone wants to be the Carrie.
