Left Bank Books partners with Archon to bring St. Louis even more amazing sci-fi events

As big book chains keep going under, indie bookstores everywhere are returning to their rightful place of glory. Some might even say that they are returning to their leadership role in the intergalactic empire sprawling over nerddom and fantasy awesomeland!

(Pardon me; I’m a dork.)

In somewhat related, and excellent, news, St. Louis’s Left Bank Books has announced that they’ll be partnering with Archon for their annual convention and a slate of events throughout the year.

Archon, one of the largest and best fan-run sci-fi and fantasy conventions, has been a beacon to the sci-fi community for more than forty years. Merging the mainstream and the niche, it’s an exciting opportunity to discover amazing new works and see where interesting fan groups are active.

Left Bank has already announced events in collaboration through the spring, starting off with Chandler Klang Smith, whose debut The Sky Is Yours came out in January.

In an email to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Jane Henderson, Left Bank events coordinator Cory Lovell, says the “continued mainstream success of sci fi and fantasy adaptations and cross genre social critique” has “reinvigorated interest and readership.”

I couldn’t agree more. Another indie store showing that they understand the world better than faceless chains? Sounds about right.
