How’s about a free book?
by Melville House
Friends, this one is simple.
The amazing Janet Joy Wilson wants to give away some books.
Why, you may ask, does Janet Joy want to give away books? Because she is an exalted human, who knows giving away books to be most excellent.
Here’s how it works:
Janet Joy has written an amazing blog post about her favorite gift books for this season. (And no, you’re not having a migrane, it really is titled “Jólabókaflóðið,” which is Icelandic for “the book flood of Christmas.” Actually, you can see it in there, “Jól” is like “yule,” “bók” is like “book,” and “flóð” means “flood.” See, you’re practically a Viking.)
And then—be still our hearts—she tweeted this:
So. So here’s what you’re going to do: you’re going to tweet at Janet Joy, telling her which of those books you want to receive, and why. And then, hopefully, you’re going to win.
These are all great books, but of course the one you should probably go for is Brolliology, by bookseller and mad umbrella genius Marion Rankine. You can get a sense of why by reading this excerpt. Or checking out these bonus tracks Marion gathered for an Instagram takeover. Or reading this essay she wrote, answering a question she presumably gets all the time: Why umbrellas?
When all else fails, let Marion amp you up:
Now go forth, ye readers, and win!
