Publishing and Censorship in Iran

A conversation between Hamid Dabashi, Professor of Iranian Studies and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, and legendary Iranian writer Mahmoud Dowlatabadi.

Imprisoned under the Shah, and known for being equally critical of the ayatollahs, Dowlatabadi is author of numerous plays, novels, and essays regarding life in contemporary Iran.

Although he lives in Tehran, Dowlatabadi is in America to mark the Melville House translation into English of his most recent book, THE COLONEL. The book has been banned by authorities in Iran.

The event is free and open to the public, and will feature a question and answer session with the audience. Join us.
