California transit agencies try their hand at Twitter poetry

The Twitter haiku battle took a slightly creepy turn here, but it was all in good fun.

Here at Melville House, we know a little something about Twitter fights. But lest you think literary Twitter burns are strictly for the literary set, or even for the East Coast, San Francisco’s BART and the Los Angeles Metro accounts had themselves a Haiku battle earlier this summer.

According to Kelly Bonner at UpOut, SFBart initiated the haiku challenge, which ran the gamut from weather to sports to traffic to, yes, Scientology.

Talk turned to sports.

And then, as these arguments tend to go, regional stereotypes were exploited.
