Approved: The “masterwork of the postcollegiate babysitting genre”
by Dennis Johnson
It takes a certain something to earn the hometown back-slap that is New York Magazine‘s Approval Matrix. For a book to make its coolest quadrant — the one bordered by “Brilliant” and “Highbrow” — well, you can imagine.
Or can you? Say what you will about New York, or at least New York Mag, they know cool isn’t always about leather and shades and a sneer. Ergo, our own debut author Leigh Stein, author of our 200th book, The Fallback Plan, has made this week’s Matrix for a tome called by New York a “masterwork of the postcollegiate babysitting genre.”
I love New York.
