Hello to new book is a Hail & Farewell to numerous bookstores and publishers
by Dennis Johnson
In a book trailer for his new novel, The Garden of Lost and Found, a straight-faced Dale Peck both spoofs Bob Dylan and writes a touching love note to a series of bookstores and publishers that are no more. One of the publishing houses featured is Carroll & Graf, which, according to Peck’s website, was originally supposed to publish Garden of Lost and Found. But C&G was bought by Perseus, which then dissolved the company before it had published Peck’s book. Now, it’s coming out from the great new start-up, Mischief and Mayhem.
Dennis Johnson is the founder of MobyLives, and the co-founder and co-publisher of Melville House.
