PUBLISHING IN THE AGE OF BLAH BLAH BLAH
The publishing company of the future
February 17, 7pm
Melville House Bookstore
While many in the book business are terrified by the historic tumult wracking the industry, a few renegades are actually excited by it. They say it presents a long-awaited opportunity to fix some things in the book business that have long been broken, and to have some fun being innovative.
Join Melville House co-publisher Dennis Loy Johnson in a conversation about the now and the next with three of the indie publishing scene’s most legendarily innovative editors:
Richard Nash (Soft Skull, Cursor)
Tina Pohlman (Carroll & Graf, Harcourt, Moulinarn Mobile Books)
Colin Robinson (OR Books, Verso, New Press, Scribner)
There is a $5.00 cover charge. Beer, wine, and snacks will be available.
About the Series
“I’m tired of the discussion about the future of the book that’s been going on, because it’s been dominated either by giant corporations who see this as an opportunity to get rid of inventory and improve the bottom line, or by tech-heads infatuated with gadgetry who have no experience in publishing or making art, or reading for that matter,” explains Melville House publisher Dennis Loy Johnson. “So we’ve decided to talk about these issues from an indie persepctive.”
