Announcing MobyLives’ 1st Annual Moby Awards!
by Melville House
Yes, that’s right: we will judge you.
Well, we’ll judge your book trailers, which one might consider reflections of you (and your work), whether you’re an author, editor, agent, publicist–whoever! In order to take this judgment (what if I don’t win?!), you’ll probably want a stiff drink (or four). So now you are all officially invited to MobyLives’ 1st Annual Moby Awards ceremony, hosted by Mr. MobyLives himself, Melville House Publisher Dennis Johnson (turns out he has a film degree — who knew!). On Thursday May 20th at the Griffin lounge in Manhattan’s chi-chi Meatpacking District, join the rest of the publishing industry (and some fabulous guest presenters, including novelist John Wray) for an evening of celebration and debauchery. Formal attire required and yes, there’s going to be a red carpet. No fisticuffs please, should your movie not win. Just have another drink and chill.
The judges will be yours truly, publicist Megan Halpern, Jacket Copy‘s Carolyn Kellogg, GalleyCat‘s Jason Boog, Slate‘s Troy Patterson, and OR Books publisher Colin Robinson. More details here. So come on out! (RSVP here. Thanks!)
Oh, and about nominations: round one is open to the public. Anyone can submit a book trailer for nomination here. Just let us know what category you’re submitting it for, give us a link, let us know why it should win, and who should get the credit! Short list to be posted the week of the Awards.

Wes Anderson is making book trailers now?
